In the Alps between Italy and France, every day dozens of people try to cross an imaginary line called the border.

During the day, the mountains between Clavière and Montgenèvre are crossed by thousands of skiers on holiday in the Via Lattea ski area; at night, dozens of migrants secretly cross the same woods, leaving Italy to continue their journey beyond the border into France.
“The Milky Way” tells the story of the solidarity of local residents and the dangers faced by migrants through glimpses of life and animated graphic novels set against the mountain world, with the awareness that – here as at sea – nobody is left alone.
